Stibo ESG

Stibo Complete is at the forefront of the fight for the environment As a foundation-owned company, we have obligations not only to ourselves, but also in particular to our employees, our customers, the world around us and our environment. We care about the footprint we leave on our surroundings, which is why we are leading the fight to care for the environment. Stibo Complete is the Nordic region’s largest printing company, and we are aware of the responsibility this entails. We have been around for more than 225 years, and would like to stay around for at least as long again. And so must our planet. This leaflet gives you an overview of Stibo Complete’s principles, initiatives and examples of our actions in the focus areas: human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption. We have been working with all these areas for a number of years, and we intend to continue working with more initiatives that will benefit our customers, employees and other stakeholders. 10 11 Stibo Complete and the UN Global Goals At Stibo Complete, we work with four of the UN’s Global Goals and defined sub-goals. The selected Global Goals have been incorporated into our management system, and we support efforts with relevant certifications wherever possible. This ensures that we have a continuous overview and a high degree of transparency.

12 13 UN sub-goal 7.3: By 2030, double the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency. It is our goal to continuously improve the energy efficiency of our company and production. We have a long tradition of working with energy optimisation and are investing massively in energy-improving initiatives. We have introduced mapping and continuous monitoring of our energy consumption – both to control it and to identify opportunities for further optimisations. Certification that supports the effort Stibo Complete is environmentally certified according to ISO 14001. We carry out ongoing energy audits in our companies, as laid down in ISO 50001 (section 4.4). UN sub-goal 12.4: By 2020, achieve the environmentally sound management of chemicals and all wastes throughout their life cycle, in accordance with agreed international frameworks, and significantly reduce their release to air, water and soil in order to minimise their adverse impacts on human health and the environment. We have a goal of continuously improving environmental performance in our company and in the products we manufacture. Our environmental work is based on the latest knowledge about the environmental impact of the products’ life cycles. The Nordic Swan, which set relevant requirements for the entire product life cycle, support our efforts. Through our environmental management system, we monitor our impact on the environment, prepare annual environmental accounts and set goals for continuous improvement. Certifications that support the effort Stibo Complete is environmentally certified according to ISO 14001 and licensed to label printed materials with the Nordic Swan. UN sub-goal 12.5: By 2030, substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recovery and reuse. We work purposefully to reduce material waste – both in production and subsequently through recycling of the used product. The Nordic Swan set requirements with regard to both the amount of waste and the recyclability of the printed products after use. Certifications that support the effort Stibo Complete is environmentally certified according to ISO 14001 and licensed to label printed materials with the Nordic Swan. UN sub-goal 13.2: Integrate climate change measures into national policies, strategies and planning. We prepare an annual climate report in which we evaluate greenhouse gas emissions and prioritise our efforts for improvements. With the help of ClimateCalc, we work with optimisation in the supply chain – and we advise our customers in choosing the most optimal paper qualities. Certification that supports the effort Stibo Complete is ClimateCalcTM certified. UN sub-goal 15.2: By 2020, promote the implementation of sustainable management of all types of forests, halt deforestation, restore degraded forests and substantially increase afforestation and reforestation globally. We offer to FSC®- or PEFCTMcertify our customers’ printed materials – in order to document that the material originates from responsible forestry. Certifications that support the effort Our company is FSC and PEFC certified for traceability.

19 FSC-C012075 PEFC/09-31-017 18 Nordic Swan Ecolabel In 1996, Stibo Complete was one of the first companies in the Nordic region to obtain the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, which places strict demands on our chemicals and consumables. The Nordic Swan Ecolabel guarantees: • Strict environmental requirements in all phases of the product life cycle. • Strict requirements for the use of chemicals. • Continuous tightening on the basis of the latest knowledge and developments. • Product-specific certification and control. Although the Nordic Swan Ecolabel has existed for several decades, this does not mean it is an outdated certification. On the contrary, it has become stronger over time. The Nordic Swan Ecolabel is your guarantee that the environmental impact of the printed material is minimal. Our combination of ISO 14001 and the Nordic Swan Ecolabel ensures full control over both the individual product and the company’s overall environmental impact. FSC The purpose of the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council®) is to promote environmentally, socially and economically sound management of forests. The FSC label ensures that the material consumption for printed matter contributes to well-managed and environmentally friendly forestry. In 2000, Stibo was FSC-certified as the world’s first heatset printing company. PEFC PEFC is the forest industry’s own certification system and aims to promote environmentally, socially and economically sound management of forests. PEFC is a traceability certification that ensures that the material consumption for PEFC-certified printed matter can be tracked throughout the value chain, from forest to consumer. Stibo was first PEFC- certified in 2011. What you get with our certifications ISO 14001 ISO 14001 is an environmental management system that ensures a systematic effort to reduce the company’s environmental impact. All employees are involved in this environmental management system and must follow the procedures that are part of the system. Our ISO 14001 system takes into account both the surrounding environment and the working environment within the company. Stibo was first ISO 14001-certified in 1997. Carbon neutralisation Stibo Complete was the first Danish printing company to obtain certification for the use of the climate calculation tool ClimateCalc, which calculates the climate impact of a printed material.
