If the RH is lower than 40% you should add moisture to the room and if it’s more than 55%, you need to dehumidify. You will find an hygrometer as well as a dehumidifier at the hardware dealer. We humans also prefer our indoor air to have a relative humidity within these limits. This prevents bacteria, viruses, bronchial infections, asthma etc from flourishing. Werden diese Grenzwerte überschritten, kann das Holz wie beschrieben reagieren. Mit einem sogenannten Hygrometer können Sie die Luftfeuchtigkeit feststellen. Liegt der Wert unter 40% sollten Sie dem Raum Feuchtigkeit zuführen, liegt er über 55% sollten Sie für trockene Luft sorgen. Einen Hygrometer finden Sie im Eisenwarenhandel oder ähnlichen Geschäften. Hier gibt es auch Geräte zum Ent- bzw. Befeuchten. Allerdings sind es nicht nur Hölzer, denen es am besten bei einer Luftfeuchtigkeit von 40–55% gefällt.
